Tuition and Courses

Professional support and courses for parents, students, schools and workplaces.

Tutors

Blue Sky Dyslexia Tutors are qualified dyslexia tutors with either the certificate or diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties. All the tutors have provided a detailed profile of their work as well as their qualifications and DBS and Insurance status. Different tutors employ a variety of methods but all use a multi-sensory approach. Tutors usually work on a one to one basis but some also run duo sessions or small groups. You can search for your nearest tutor on this site. Some tutors will come to your house, workplace or school, whilst others have a base close by or provide online tuition.

Tutors have different pricing structures depending on experience and some may charge for travelling to you. They will usually provide an overview of their pricing in their profile. Tutors offer specialist tuition for children and adults and can help with all challenges associated with specific learning difficulties, including; phonics, memory strategies, study skills, revision and exam techniques and more. Many Blue Sky Dyslexia tutors have experience supporting adults and university learners too. They focus on the specific needs of the person and support those needs. This could be organisation skills, writing reports, spelling or revision. Everyone is an individual, so it is essential that your tutor has a  discussion about the learner’s difficulties and baseline assesses you, then they will supply you with a personalised plan. Every tutor has different specialities so it is important for you to look at their profile and contact them to discuss your needs. If you cannot find a tutor close enough to you then why not try online tutoring.

Online Tuition

If you cannot find a local tutor, Blue Sky provides an online tuition service, with tutors who will teach using a selection of interactive resources. The tutor will provide a very similar service to a face to face lesson but it will be online. Resources and paperwork that need to be printed will generally be emailed before the lesson or shared on screen. The online tutor will be able to explain how the system works when you make an enquiry with them.  The lessons are often carried out via Skype but Blue Sky dyslexia also offers a Virtual Learning Environment so that online tuition can be supported as well as face to face tuition. The Virtual Learning Environment also provides a safe learning platform for all users -that is GDPR compliant.

Testimonials

Having Dyslexia is a struggle with reading and spelling, but coming for support has helped me so much. My teacher, Alison is great with explaining things and she takes it step by step and goes at my speed, as sometimes I find it hard to read and spell. Coming here has also improved my confidence with reading out loud as I would never have done that before I started.

My daughter has gained more confidence. The teachers at school have said she has moved up stages in her learning. I can see the difference in her attitude to learning. The support has given so much help to my daughter. Without the teacher and the team at the centre I would not have been able to give my daughter the help she needs. Thank you.

Ciaran is very happy with his lessons and feels they have helped a lot. He told his teacher that the tricks you taught him means he is not too far behind everyone now. I like the fact he gets his cards to do for homework.

Anna really enjoys these lessons. Catherine has a lot of patience and delivers structured teaching. We have seen Anna progress during the lessons and appreciate all the help she has been given. We would recommend this service for all children who need something extra to stay in line with their peers.
